Sport | EntertainmentSandford Parks Lido (previously known as Cheltenham Lido) was completed in 1936 as part of a movement to impove the nation's health. It was heavily repaired in 1989, 1994, and 2007 and remains a popular attraction for Cheltenham and the surrouding areas offering one of very few large outdoor swimming pools in the UK.
Lido Facilities
Sandford Parks Lido offers an outdoor heated 50 metre pool and a children's pool, both with slides. It is located in a picturesque setting and surrounded by trees and landscaped gardens. There is parking available for over 150 vehicles, heated changing facilities and toilets, an on site cafe, and free children's play equipment, table tennis, and basketball. Swimming lessons are also available at £10 for 30 minutes.
Lido Opening Times
The Lido is only open from late spring to early autumn - during 2009 from 2nd May to 27th September. The main pool and the children's pool are open every day from 11:00am - 7:30pm. The main pool is also open from 6:30am - 9:00am on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and also from 8:00am - 9:30am on Sunday.Lido Entrance Fees
Sandford Parks Lido is great value comparing very favourably to the cost of swimming at leisure@cheltenham while offering much more. Entrance (for the whole day) to the Lido site is £4.00 for adults, £2.00 for children under 16 and other concessions, and under 5's go in free.Family tickets are available at £9.40 for three people, and £11.00 for four. Locker hire is £1 (of which is 50p is a returnable key deposit). Season tickets are available for adults, concessions, and families who intend to use the facilities regularly.
Season ticket holders receive a full refund on their car parking charge when visiting the Lido, while day swimmersreceive a partial refund. For example, if staying for up to 6 hours, of the £6.00 standard pay-and-display car parking fee, £4.00 is refunded to a day swimmer, and all £6.00 to a season ticket holder.
